 Our Dog Is Now Suffering From Personality Disorder July 11, 2010

After numerous consultations with various vets specializing in psychological disorders, the primary stressor which triggered OCD and Borderline Personality Disorder in our young canine was this laser exerciser. Purchased with the best intentions but with no warning of the long term psychological and emotional damage that can be possibly inflicted by its use, we were horrified when symptomatic behavior patterns emerged shortly after first engaging Fifi with this so-called toy. One vet expressed his dismay that such notorious laser savagery is still on the market after so many studies have revealed the neurotic destructiveness too often suffered. Fifi, our beautiful Doberman, is now a quivering shadow of the fine animal she once was and only months of therapy have brought any relief. Slowly, she is returning to a state of some stability but she may never be completely the same. The doctors are optimistic and there are signs that she is indeed processing the trauma and may have turned a corner in her journey back from the brink. However, the consumer should be aware that if their beloved pet has any genetic or environmental foundation for developing a mental disorder, this toy may prove to over stimulate to the point that a traumatic overload of the nervous system could cause a trigger effect, plunging the animal into a downward spiral into a very dark place. While recovery is certainly likely with professional guidance, the road back is not any more pleasant than the initial destination for pet or caretaker.

This is definitely a horrible product. I put the batteries in and played with my cat for maybe 15-20 minutes and it just stopped working. Changed the batteries and still didn't work. Really poor quality.

Everyone that comes over wants to play with the
laser light toy. lots of fun and entertainment for
everyone,and the dog.The dog does not want to
stop. He keeps looking for the for light 5 or 10
minutes after you stop.

This toy is amazing, our cats go NUTS over it, and it isn't expensive! Only thing I feel bad about is that they can never actually catch it. Still worth it though, our cats just hear the keychain jingle a tiny amount and they perk up and start looking for the dot - even if they were fast asleep before!

Well, after reading all the bad reviews in which the reviewers say their Mensa society cats figured out where the dot was coming from and lost interest, I regret to say that my cats are clearly retarded, but eh, so what. It is so amusing to shine the red dot down a darkened hall and up the walls and watch the kitties go into a frenzy. Not all of them love it (we have 10) but enough do that there is a veritable stampede of cats thundering up and down chasing the red dot. It's quite funny.
By the way, my cats aren't really retarded--they know perfectly well where the dot is coming from, as evidenced by the way they all gallop into the kitchen when they hear the jingle sound as I remove the laser pointer from the coffee cup where I hide it. I just like calling them "retarded" because it's so un-PC.
